PCT, Day 50

Monday, June 3, 2024, Ridgecrest, zero day

I call the urgent care center this morning to get my lab results. They tell me they'll call back, but knowing that likely won't happen, I prepare for a walk through the desert heat. First, I extend my hotel stay for another night.

The results come back good, with no findings. However, I read an article that I believe might explain the reason for my troubles:

https://www.luks.ch/newsroom/laufen-kann-auf-magen-schlagen/

Looks like I'll need to reduce my walking distance again to support my body's recovery.

I head to the store to buy food. I need to gain some weight. I pick up some less palatable protein drinks (seriously, who enjoys those?), bananas, toast, yogurt, and almonds. I haven't been hungry for days, but I force myself to eat.

In the evening, I ask the Facebook group for trail angels in the area if I can hitch a ride back to Kennedy Meadows on Wednesday. That would give me one more day of rest.
Someone is heading out Wednesday afternoon, and another Thursday at 6:00 AM. I opt for the Thursday ride since waiting outside in the desert heat for hours for the afternoon ride isn't ideal.

This is good. It gives me Tuesday and Wednesday to rest further and hopefully improve my digestive system.
