South to North, Day 1

Friday, August 16, 2024, Smygehuk to Fru Alstad, 17,9 km, 4:45 hrs

I have walked a lot of Northern Sweden between 2020 and 2022, before I started this blog.
I haven't seen the south yet but wanted to get a taste:

I arriveat Smygehuk by 8:25 AM and first walk to the Coop to buy some food. Then, I head to the southernmost edge of Sweden. It is beautiful here. I walk around until 10 AM before starting my journey. I am inspired by YouTube videos from Lidj07, who walked the length of Sweden, starting here in 2021.

I'm not planning to walk all of Sweden right now, but I might walk for a few days going north, and maybe one day I'll come back to where I will stop and hike up north in sections. Who knows?

I enjoye today's walk a lot. The path is easy, with lots of wide-open views. There is light rain on and off, with more during the last hour of walking. My rain pants and poncho keepme dry for that final stretch.

I stopp in Fru Alstad. There's a nice shelter here where I can set up my pad and quilt to sleep. It's next to an old church and cemetery, which is convenient since there's fresh water available.

In the evening, other people come and set up their tents, but none of them are hikers. At 10 PM, I wake up as three men arrive and put their sleeping pads in the shelter as well. They disappear again at 4:40 AM.
