PCT, Day 32

Published on 8 June 2024 at 08:00

Thursday, May 16, Agua Dulce to Mile 474,2, 30,68 km, total km 630,44, 9:30 hrs.

I start walking at 6:30, before the guys, but of course, they overtake me at one point. For the first hour or so, I walk in clouds again. Then the sky clears, and it becomes a very hot day.

By 9, it already feels far too hot. There is a long ascent, then a descent, and then the same pattern repeats.

Navigator plans to do 38 km, but I can’t. Double Dinner suggests about 32 km, and I agree to try that.

During the last 10 km, my feet hurt a little. I need new shoes and new insoles. I ordered them, but I still have to walk 150 km with the ones I have now. We reach the tent sites after 4; it is mercilessly hot still.

I set up my tent, crouch into some marginal shade, and wait for it to cool down. The tent picture is from the next morning- in clouds again. I forgot to take the picture in the evening.
